Senior Accountant

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accountant to join our fast-growing SaaS company. The Senior Accountant will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and be responsible for managing the company's financial accounting and reporting activities and will play a key role in the company's financial management. Work location will be hybrid remote with 2-3 days a week in our downtown global headquarters in Austin, Texas.

In the Senior Accountant role, you will:

  • Monthly Close and General Ledger. Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and accruals, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), including preparation of journal entries and analysis against historicals and budget.
  • Financial Reporting. Prepare and maintain accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Accounts Receivable. You’ll support the order-to-cash function by ensuring appropriate accounting treatment of customer contracts, invoices, and payments.
  • Reconciliations. On a monthly basis, you will conduct account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and general ledger maintenance as well as be responsible for reconciling assigned balance sheets and income statement accounts.
  • Process Improvement. Identify process/control weaknesses and work independently to find resolutions. You’ll maintain company accounting procedures and processes and ensure compliance of all internal processes and systems.
  • Information Preparation. You’ll lead the preparation of financial information for taxes, sales tax (including GST or other foreign tax), regulatory agencies, and necessary stakeholders.
  • Audit and Tax Returns. You’ll partner with the CFO on our external audit and tax returns.

Who you are:

  • 4-7+ years of prior accounting experience, preferably in SaaS or Software.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Big 4/Public accounting experience preferred.
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • Must have an excellent understanding of GAAP, how to reconcile balance sheet accounts, create loan amortization worksheets, manage fixed asset entries and depreciation, record sales tax and liability adjustments.
  • Strong understanding of Accrual Basis accounting: Prepaid Expenses, Accrued Expenses, and Deferred Revenue needs to be tracked and adjusted monthly.
  • ASC 606 Experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail & critical thinking.
  • Experience with cloud-based accounting software and advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Experience with QuickBooks online or other widely used online ERP preferred.
